The Vargas Family – Lifestyle & Maternity Session in Whitby, ON

Considering that I’m primarily a wedding photographer, I don’t often receive requests for family sessions or maternity sessions, but if it works out, then it just means more fun times! :)

I had the honour of getting to know the Vargas family through Harvest Bible Chapel Durham — the new church plant of my own home church!  Dad is a super talented graphic designer, professional musician, and all-around great guy.  He’s also actively serving as the music director at Harvest Durham and designed the web site, banners, etc. for the church too!  You should see the man play piano — too good to be true.  He’s even developed an iPhone app for worship leaders!  Quite the multi-talented man.

Since they live in Whitby, we did their lifestyle session there.  Mom is also due uber soon, so it was a great opportunity to double it as a maternity session!  Very cool — I quickly learned that I was the first professional photographer they have ever booked to capture and treasure photographs of their family.  What an honour!

I’m never out as far east as Whitby, so it was quite the adventure finding a location to photograph at.  Just another example of the amazing the places you might discover by not knowing where you’ll be shooting; rather, just being adventurous and driving around the block a bit.

The Vargas’ are such a sweet family — they even treated me to a famous Starr Burger combo for dinner after the session! Starr even has sautéed onions as a free optional topping too! Yum!

Congratulations Vargas family!  I’m looking forward to meeting your second daughter soon enough!

What a cute family! The colors and lighting is just wonderful!

oh gosh the one where dad is holding her and they're both busting out laughing... everything about it - the color of her shirt, the focus, the frame, the story - it kills me. =')
