It’s nice to take a break sometimes and share some “personal” photographs on the blog! My wife and I took a mini-vacation to Chicago, Illinois last year. Like so many other people, the only thing we knew about Chicago was The O’Hare International Airport, one the world’s most busiest and most vital central air transportation hubs in North America.
It turns out, Chicago is actually a beautiful city with so much to see, do, and experience with Millennium Park, The Magnificent Mile, The Museum of Science and Industry (Mythbusters: The Explosive Exhibit), deep dish pizza, and so much more! We only had 2 days to explore an amazing city packed with so much — we’re definitely itching to return soon! Plus, the “foodies” part of us thoroughly missed out on the 19 Michelin Star restaurants located in Chicago alone!
The real reason we drove to Chicago was for the Harvest University conference held by Harvest Bible Fellowship (the church planting arm of Harvest Bible Chapels / Walk in the Word with James MacDonald). We’ve participated every year for 3 years straight now and every year, I still say that it’s one of the best, most well-executed, and most refreshing conferences we’ve ever been to. With so many practical, directly applicable, and biblically-based breakout sessions, even after all these years, we’ve only just scratched the service! So far, we’ve learned about planning and executing earth-shattering, window-rattling, life-altering, high-impact worship services; developing a solid biblical perspective in directive/preventative, corrective, and intensive counselling within a church community; and building quality disciples through mutual ministry and prayerful small group accountability. Time really does fly and it’ll be time for Harvest University 2013 in October before you know it!
