Their story starts with Ming leaving his family in sunny, hot California to live in Rochester, New York and continue his studies. But of course, he had no idea that was what was in store for him there! I mean, why would someone willingly leave California? Apparently, “to meet his future wife”! :)
Before Heidi moved to New York for school, her sister, Amy, mentioned that there was a tall and handsome man in Rochester that she simply had to meet! Matchmaker Amy had told Ming about Heidi too. Armed with his new found knowledge, he did a bit of research through social media and realized that Heidi was gorgeous! But he was determined to keep his level of excitement discrete ;)
In December 2013, Ming flew home to California to see his family and brought Heidi with him so that she could meet his parents. He had planned a full-day adventure at The Monterey Bay Aquarium and a few other places around town. As sunset approached, they went to Carmel Beach, laid out a blanket, and found a nice quiet spot on the sand overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Ming took his guitar out of its case and sang “Seven Wonders” from the Broadway musical, Catch Me If You Can. If you’ve never heard the lyrics to this song … it’s the ultimate swoon song! He got down on one knee and she said “Yes”! :)
P.S. Thanks for doing a spectacular job with Heidi’s hair for her e-session, Suzie! :)
