Where do I begin?!  Patricia and Greg’s wedding was so personal, intimate, memorable, and so much fun!  I absolutely love it when couples personalize their weddings!  Every aspect of the day was so distinctly reflective of who Patricia and Greg are from the smallest details to the bigger picture — no “cookie cutter” wedding here!  I loved that from the second you entered, from the decorations and the vibe, you could tell that you were at Patricia and Greg’s wedding and it could not have been anyone else’s wedding.  Thanks for the invite, Joee!

Greg has such a laid-back, easy-going personality coupled with a whacky sense of humour; plus, he likes to make a lot of funny faces.  When I arrived at his place in the morning, no one was home!  Typical ;) Instead, I met Terrance (Greg’s brother, who didn’t have a house key) and Christie on the driveway.  We made ourselves “at home”, lounged on the backyard patio, just chatted and got to know each other. It’s a good thing that it doesn’t take long for men to get dressed!

Patricia got ready at The Miller Lash House at the University of Toronto (Scarborough Campus) and had the whole place to herself! Not having a bridal party meant getting ready in the morning was so stress-free! Patricia had the very creative idea of everyone having their own personalized “cahier” — you know, those little workbooks you had when you were in school!  Inside each notebook was a plethora of activities including crossword puzzles! Fun!
People who arrived late received tardy slips with a written warning to “never ever ever ever do it again”. Underneath that, a much gentler message: “kindly admit student to class” signed by “Principal Skinner” — a very creative way to engulf your guests into your wedding experience!

Greg also incorporated some of his “nerdy” computer science background into the wedding — check out the chalkboard with math problems to figure out which table you’re sitting at.
Question: What does subscript  mean? (eg. Jes and Raph)
I also got lost on the “log” question, although I was fine with the exponents and factorials!

Another key ingredient to a super fun wedding is to have delicious food (and lots of it)!  Patricia and Greg chose a homey, southern-inspired comfort food menu for dinner — it was a hit!  Well, I don’t know about everyone else, but I thoroughly enjoyed it!  Gourmet macaroni and cheese baked in individual ramekins, fork-tender braised beef brisket, Louisiana southern fried chicken … it was all so delicious!  Yes, I also ate my serving of vegetables too.

Speeches were a great time for everyone to have a good laugh, complete with very nerdy graphs, figures, and diagrams charting the progress of their relationship.  One of my favourite parts was a line graph depicting a drastic plunge in the world’s supply of milk in the year 1978 — Greg is a huge milk drinker.  He even raised his glass to “toast” with milk!

There is a pleasant surprise near the bottom of this blog post … don’t miss it!

I love receiving e-mails from couples thanking our photography team for a job well done.  It really does mean a lot!  E-mails are nice, but hand-written letters are so rare in this day and age that they now become so treasured.  One day, I received a little white envelope in the mail from “The O’Krampo District School Board” sealed with an instantly recognizable 10-01-10 red apple sticker!  Thanks for the super thoughtful hand-written card, you two!  I’m sure that they won’t mind me sharing:

“Thank you for capturing great moments and details of our special day! You put the K—– family at ease and were just a really relaxed, affable presence throughout the whole day. You’re a big talent, and we’re so grateful you could share that with us! Also, Nikon forever!!!”

I did “okay” in school, I wasn’t the best student, but I wasn’t the worst either — regardless, I don’t think I’ve ever received such a positive grade on a report card before!  Straight A’s!  Yes!

Anyone who knows me knows that I’m a “foodie” — I love eating!  I love trying different restaurants, tasting new cuisines, and sharing the experience with good friends.  (In fact, Kitty and I are hoping to start a foodie blog together!)  Yes, the rumours are true … Williams-Sonoma and I are seeing each other.  My dream kitchen currently includes a few All-Clad Copper Core pieces, a few Le Creuset items, Wolf appliances, and Caesarstone countertops.  Yum!  All that to say, “Advanced Eating” is probably the only course where I deserve an “A”!

It was an honour to be a part of your wedding day, Patricia and Greg.  All the best to you both!
