I’ve always loved listening to music, especially live music. Friends know that I’m an audiophile who loves to recreate and reproduce that “you are right there with them” live music playback experience. There’s something about hearing and feeling music live that immerses all of your senses and engages you physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. That experience is elevated more so when spectacular songs are performed by some of the most talented instrumentalists and musicians in the city: Tim Ball, Drew Brown, Rob “Beatdown” Brown, Daniel Cowans.
Rachelle performed a number of original songs that she’s written over the past few years and a few new additions as well. I spoke with a number of people after the concert and there were several songs that either made them cry a few tears or simply sent shivers down their spine (in a good way)! Whenever the piano introduction to “I Am Not” starts, that song hits a tear-jerking spot in my heart every single time. I affectionately call “Keep Me” the most depressing song of all time, but definitely worth the emotional turmoil. “Try So Hard” most easily resonates with every human being on the planet. “More Than Beautiful” looks to what’s ahead. “Anything But You” focuses on the priorities in our lives. Her piano-based cover of Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud”, that she personalized and dedicated to her husband, is probably my favourite cover of that song EVER! Her version of “His Eye is On The Sparrow” was definitely the crowd favourite and ended the evening off with a standing ovation.
