Kitty and I had a great “double date day” out with Glendon and Helen last weekend! We were given the challenge of planning a “day out” for the ladies all under $100 (or $25 per person).
Mission accomplished! We started the day off with a picnic lunch at Ashbridges Bay, grooved to some great music at the Toronto Beaches Jazz Festival, window shopped at Yorkdale Shopping Centre, ate some affordable pho, and finished off the night at the David Dunlap Observatory. We heard Dr. Rupinder Brar, winner of TVO’s 2010 Best Lecturer in Ontario Competition, speak on the topic of “Exoplanets: The Search for Other Earths“. Plus, we got to look through the observatory’s 1.88m (74-inch) reflector telescope! Too bad that we missed seeing Saturn — I hear that Saturn is one of the most picturesque planets in our solar system.
Can you tell that the science nerd in me had a lot of fun?
