Lydia and Seamus first met each other at Medical School in Ireland. On the first day of school, they needed to get up-to-date on their vaccinations. Seamus was sitting in the waiting room alone. Lydia walked in and thought that this little boy was much too young to be here and must be in the wrong place. After a short talk, she realized that he was in the right place after all and was in her same class: “Whoever that girl is, I don’t want to talk to her”! I might have to say that is the most amazingly awkward (and phenomenal) way to meet your spouse EVER! :)
One Christmas, they made plans to travel to Asia for a family reunion. On the trip, they made a stop in Singapore where Seamus took her on a walk on The Double Helix Bridge (a bridge inspired by the shape and structure of DNA, the genetic code and information that make all living things on Earth). There, he got down on one knee, asked her to be his wife, and she said “Yes”! The next day, they flew to Malaysia where they were reunited with family to celebrate altogether.
